How to Become a Disney Actor

If you’re looking to become a Disney actor there is a relatively standard process that you must follow. Attending auditions is the most crucial part, but there is a lot of preparation that you need to go through beforehand.

Instructions:

1. Prepare a portfolio for yourself that contains headshots, body shots, and your entire acting resume along with a DVD containing some of your past performances if you have them. Many people show up to auditions without a proper portfolio and this can help to distinguish you from everyone else.

2. Find the Disney auditions that interest you. The official for Disney acting auditions is “www.corporate.disney.go.com/auditions/.” On this website you can sort by theme park and choose different types of roles such as “Dancer” or “Actor.” Try choosing the auditions that are closest to your area because this will reduce your travel expenses and allow you to attend more auditions, increasing your chances of being hired.

3. Attend the auditions that you’ve chosen. Often times, people schedule auditions and then fail to attend them for a number of reasons, so just by attending you’ll have an advantage over many other actors. In addition to attending, don’t forget to bring your portfolio. Even if they don’t request it, having your portfolio with you shows that you are organized and prepared.

4. Relax during the audition and concentrate on your performance. Don’t let your nerves get the best of you. It’s important to remember that it’s just an audition and there are always more. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t try your hardest, it just means that you if you can relax you’ll give your best performance.

5. Wait patiently to hear back. Calling and bothering the people who ran the audition will only hurt your chances of getting hired. If they want to hire you, they won’t forget to call.

Tips:

Don’t get discouraged if you attend multiple auditions and don’t get hired. It’s common in the acting industry to be denied more times that you are accepted, so keep your head up and don’t stop trying.
